OLOL TAU CENTER FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH

Our team’s purpose was to provide the adolescents at Our Lady of the Lake Tau Center with an environment that promotes healing, comfort, and a sense of security. We wanted to create a space where the patients can feel at home during their time at the Tau Center. The design of the space incorporates elements that foster relaxation, reduce stress, and encourage positive mental well being. One key aspect is the use of soothing colors and natural elements. The natural elements connect the space to nature and the soft tones such as the blues, greens, and neutrals create a calming atmosphere. Natural lighting is maximized throughout the space and soft, diffused lighting is used to create a gentle atmosphere. The layout of the space also ensures privacy and a sense of personal space to the patients. By incorporating all these design factors, we created a space that can provide individuals with a safe space where they can find comfort and support on their journey towards better mental health.

For this project, the program spaces I focused on were the large and small group rooms, large cafeteria, small dining area, and hallways.
